The theater and its pop art_the body and the city

Peneira members have been sharing with the public their process of creating dance notations through the workshop The theater and its pop art_the body and the city. Using as their tool for creation “what the people live” _ daily lives, memory and fiction _ participants exercise techniques for creative construction through observation, with daily lives as their research object.

Building upon the idea of how we think our place in a specific space, and stimulated by displacement, fiction and contact with the territory, we start to realize that cities are (re)discovering themselves and creating memories all the time.

The process is aligned with research on David Harvey, João do Rio, Luís da Câmara Cascudo, Ericson Pires, Ariano Suassuna, Mário de Andrade, as well as techniques proposed by great theater names, such as Uta Hagen, Antonin Artaud, Augusto Boal, Matteo Bonfitto, Luís Otávio Burnier, Thérèse Bertherat, Jussara Trindade, Jacyan Castilho, Rudolf Laban, among others.

The intention is to find out ways of acting in the social world through the exchange with participants, and using the cities as platform for creation and artistic action. The sessions culminate into interventions in public spaces as part of the workshop.
