Map of Saraus and Poetry Slams in Brazil

The mapping of Saraus and Poetry Slams in Brazil is a research conducted by Peneira which aims at identifying the number and dimensions of the initiatives that together compose the poetry scene in the country, besides creating and strengthening bonds between them. Building upon the mapping, it was possible to come up with a database containing information on existing saraus and poetry slams, a map with their locations and infographics analyzing their production.

The research started in December 2014, when Peneira members realized the great number of saraus taking place in Rio de Janeiro,  especially after the June 2013 protests. In 2018, the scope of the project was enlarged to cover all the other states in Brazil.
